How much does a full garden makeover cost in West London?

Most full garden makeovers in Hillingdon, Uxbridge and the surrounding areas fall between £6,000 and £25,000. A small courtyard refresh (clearance, new patio, fencing and turf) typically starts around £6,000–£9,000. A standard rear garden with new patio, lawn, fencing, planting and lighting is usually £12,000–£18,000. Larger gardens with pergolas, raised beds, irrigation or outdoor kitchens can reach £20,000+. A typical 3-bed semi rear garden takes 2–4 weeks from first dig to handover. Clearance and groundworks are usually 3–5 days, hard landscaping (patio, paths, fencing) 1–2 weeks, and turf or planting the final few days. Weather can affect concrete and turf laying — we always build a small buffer in and keep you updated.

Do you handle the design as well as the build?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most of our makeovers are full design-and-build. We start with a free site visit, take measurements, and produce a sketch layout with materials and planting. There's no separate design fee when we build the project. If you already have plans from a garden designer, we're happy to price and build to those instead.

Question 4

Do I need planning permission for a garden makeover?

Accepted Answer

For most makeovers — patios, lawns, fences under 2m, planting, raised beds — no planning permission is required. Permission may be needed for garden rooms over 2.5m high, structures within 2m of a boundary that exceed 2.5m, or work in a conservation area. We'll always flag this at quote stage and won't start anything that needs consent until it's in place.

Will you remove all the old materials and rubbish?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Full clearance, skip hire and waste disposal are included in every makeover quote. We're licensed waste carriers, so everything is removed legally and you're given waste transfer notes on request. Your garden is left clean and ready to enjoy.

Can you work with sloping or awkwardly shaped gardens?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Sloping gardens are some of our favourite projects — terracing with sleeper retaining walls, split-level patios, and integrated steps can turn a difficult slope into a real feature. We'll survey levels at the quote visit and design around the slope rather than fighting it.

What's the best time of year to have a garden makeover?

Accepted Answer

Hard landscaping (patios, fencing, decking, walls) can be done year-round. Turf is best laid March–October. Planting is ideal in spring or autumn. We're busiest March–July, so book 4–8 weeks ahead for that window. Winter is actually a great time to start — we often have shorter lead times and your garden is ready for spring.

Do you offer a guarantee on garden makeovers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All hard landscaping (patios, walls, fencing, decking) carries a 5-year workmanship guarantee. Turf and planting carry a 12-month establishment guarantee provided basic aftercare instructions (watering, mowing) are followed. We're fully insured with £2m public liability cover.

Question 9

Can you include lighting, irrigation and electrics?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with qualified Part-P electricians for outdoor sockets and lighting circuits, and install drip irrigation systems for borders and planters. These are popular add-ons and far cheaper to install during the makeover than retrofitting later.

Question 10

Do you take payment in stages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For larger makeovers we take a small deposit to secure your start date, then stage payments at agreed milestones (e.g. after groundworks, after hard landscaping, on completion). We never ask for the full amount up front and you only pay the final stage when you're happy with the finished garden.
